« Suite au Covid 19, nous avons décrété la fermeture des frontières de la Terre Indigène Andirà-Marau. Dans une communauté voisine à la mienne, un Indien de la Communauté São Benedito a trouvé la mort suite au Covid, et l’aire est désormais complètement isolée. Aujourd’hui, au nom des producteurs Sateré Mawé, nous voulons vous dire que nous n’avons aucun soutien, aide ou assistance de la part du gouvernement brésilien. Le gouvernement de Bolsonaro exclut complètement les Amérindiens du processus de décision des politiques publiques et sanitaires. Nous souffrons avec cette pandémie qui arrive dans nos tribus, chez nous. Nous, les Amérindiens d’Amazonie, nous sommes seuls face au Covid, pendant ce moment de souffrance. Nous manquons de vivres et de soins nécessaires pour lutter contre cette pandémie. Le Peuple Amérindien Sateré Mawé fait un appel de secours. Aidez-nous ».

« With regard to Covid 19, we have decided to close the borders of the Andirà-Marau indigenous area. In a community neighbouring mine, an indigenous from the Community of Saint Benedict died as a result of the Covid, and the area is now completely isolated. Today, on behalf of the Sateré Mawé producers, we want to tell you that we have no support, help or assistance from the Brazilian government. Bolsonaro’s government completely excludes the Indigenous people from the decision-making process of public and health policies. We are suffering with this pandemic that is coming to our tribes, to our homes. We the Sateré Mawé are left stranded to face the COVID 19 and cop with it’s consequences. We lack the food and care needed to fight this pandemic. The Indigenous people are calling for support. We need your help. »
